Onboarding & Getting Started on Customs Declarations UK Platform for Submitting Import / Export & Safety and Security Declarations

Hello everyone, and welcome to another video in the Customs Declarations UK Getting Started Guide. Today, we’ll walk you through the steps required to onboard and begin submitting Import/Export and Safety & Security Declarations on the Customs Declarations UK platform.

Obtain Your GB EORI Number

To start, you must have a GB EORI number. If you don’t already have one, please visit the link provided (gov.uk) to apply. For submitting Safety & Security Declarations, make sure you’re registering as an organization rather than an individual, since individuals are not permitted to submit these types of declarations.

Access HMRC Services

Once you have your EORI number, there are a few more steps:

  • Subscribe to the Customs Declaration Service (CDS) here if you plan to submit CDS declarations.
  • Register to make an Entry Summary Declaration (ENS) here in Great Britain if you haven’t done so already.

Register on the Customs Declarations UK Platform

After completing those registrations:

  • Use the registration link provided to create your account on the Customs Declarations UK platform.
  • Verify that you’ve entered the correct GB EORI number (or XI EORI number, if applicable).
  • Authorize the software to submit declarations on your behalf by logging in with the gov.uk account that’s linked to your EORI number.
  • Update your payment method if you haven’t already.
  • Set up notification emails and upload your company logo (optional).

Navigating the Platform

Once registered, your dashboard may show zero declarations if you’re just getting started. In the top-left corner, you’ll find the main menu:

  • Profile:
    • Confirm your GB EORI number is correct—particularly important for Safety & Security Declarations.
    • Optionally, grant access to the Helpdesk if needed.
  • Authorize with HMRC:
    • Click the link to authorize the software with your HMRC account. Ensure you log in with the gov.uk credentials tied to your EORI number.

Final Checks & Submissions

  • Update Payment Method: Ensure your payment details are correct.
  • Check Subscription Details: Confirm you have the right subscriptions for the services you need.
  • Notification Emails: Under Settings, specify email addresses for CDS notifications and account stream updates.
  • Upload Logo (optional): If you’d like, add your company’s branding.

When you’re ready to submit:

  • For CDS Declarations, click the CDS option in the menu.
  • For Safety & Security (ENS) Declarations, select ENS Declaration and follow the steps to start your notification.

That covers the essentials of getting started with the Customs Declarations UK platform. Thank you for watching, and we hope this guide helps you smoothly submit your Import/Export and Safety & Security Declarations.
